Bloody Mary Pasta
Pasta inspired by a classic Bloody Mary cocktail! Customize based on your Bloody Mary preferences. A spin on traditional Vodka Pasta.

Ingredients
- 8 oz Bacon Diced; reserve 1 tbsp or so of bacon grease
- 10 oz Mirepoix (Onion, Celery, Carrot) I used the precut mix from the grocery store (2 parts onion, 1 part celery, 1 part carrot), or use this ratio and chop your own ingredients (about 1/2 an onion, 1-2 celery stalks, 1-2 carrots)
- 1 teaspoon Black Pepper divided
- 1/2 teaspoon Red Pepper Flakes adjust to spice preference
- 1/2 teaspoon Old Bay Seasoning
- 3 tablespoon Tomato Paste
- 1/3 cup Vodka
- 14.5 oz Diced Tomatoes 1 can
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire Sauce
- 1 teaspoon Hot Sauce I used the Tabasco Chipotle Sauce for some smoky flavor
- 1/2 cup Heavy Cream
- Olive Brine optional
- 1 lb Pasta
- Chopped Olives, Chopped Fresh Parsley, Lemon Juice; Parmesan Cheese; any other Bloody Mary toppings you like optional to serve
Instructions
- Cook the diced bacon in a large skillet or sauté pan over medium high heat. Remove to a paper towel lined plate once crispy. Drain the bacon grease from the pan, leaving 1 tbsp or so in the pan.
- Turn the pan to medium heat. Add the onion, celery, and carrot mixture to the remaining bacon grease. Season with 1/2 tsp black pepper, red pepper flakes, and Old Bay. Cook for about 5 minutes until softened, stirring occasionally.
- Add tomato paste. Stir to combine. Cook for 5 minutes until darkened in color. Pour in the vodka to deglaze the pan, Scrape the bottom of the pan with a wooden spoon to release any stuck bits. Cook for 2-3 minutes until most of the liquid is absorbed.
- Meanwhile, cook the pasta according to package instructions in boiling salted water.
- Pour in the diced tomatoes, Worcestershire Sauce, and hot sauce to the pan. Stir to combine and cook for 3 minutes.
- Add a splash of pasta water to the tomato mixture and immersion blend until desired smoothness. Optionally, transfer to a regular blender or food processor.
- Optionally; pour in a splash of olive brine and stir to combine. Lower the heat and pour in the heavy cream. Stir to combine. Add the cooked pasta straight to the sauce and thoroughly combine. Add pasta water as needed to thin the sauce. Add the remaining 1/2 tsp black pepper.
- Serve with bacon and desired Bloody Mary toppings. I used chopped olives, fresh parsley, lemon juice, parmesan cheese, and additional black pepper and red pepper flakes
