This One Pan Sun-Dried Tomato & Boursin Cheese Orzo is packed with savory flavors and creamy goodness! This Italian-inspired dish comes together with just a few simple ingredients but delivers big on taste. I highly recommend serving it with my air fryer parmesan crusted chicken for the perfect pairing.

After sharing a short video of this recipe, the full version was highly requested on social media—and for good reason. This one is so good!

It was also part of my February Orzo Recipe Series, and honestly, it’s one of my favorites from the lineup. Keep reading to learn how to make it!

Ingredients for Sun-Dried Tomato and Boursin Cheese Orzo Ingredients

Ingredients for one pan sundried tomato boursin orzo

See the full list of ingredients with exact quantities on the recipe card below.

  • Oil from Sun-Dried Tomatoes - the oil that comes in the sun-dried tomatoes is so flavorful and very convenient to use. You can also use regular olive oil if you prefer.
  • Orzo - add your orzo uncooked – super easy! The orzo will toast and then cook in the chicken broth, similar to risotto.
  • Chicken Broth - I often use a combination of water and Low-Sodium Better Than Bouillon Roasted Chicken Base. Since many of my recipes call for chicken broth, I find it much more convenient to keep a jar of this on hand rather than constantly buying cans or cartons. A single jar lasts for months and allows me to easily adjust the strength of the broth as needed.
  • Garlic & Herbs Boursin Cheese - this flavor of Boursin Cheese is my favorite, but feel free to try out other flavors.

Recipe Tip

This recipe pairs PERFECTLY with my sliced air fryer parmesan crusted chicken! You could also pair it with slices of my pan-fried crispy parmesan chicken.

How do I make this orzo recipe?

See full list of instructions on the recipe card below.

Step 1: Sauté the aromatics

Heat the oil from the sun-dried tomato jar in a large sauté pan over medium heat. Add minced shallot and cook for 2 minutes, then stir in minced garlic and cook for another minute.

Step 2: Toast the orzo

Stir in the uncooked orzo, coating it in the oil, and toast for 1-2 minutes until lightly golden.

Step 3: Mix in the sun-dried tomatoes, broth, and seasonings

Add the chopped sun-dried tomatoes and pour in the chicken broth. Season with red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally until the orzo is tender and most of the liquid is absorbed.

Step 4: Stir in lemon juice and spinach

Once the orzo is cooked, turn the heat to low. Stir in the juice of half a lemon and the baby spinach, letting it wilt.

Step 5: Fold in Boursin cheese

Add the Boursin cheese and stir until fully melted and creamy.

Step 6: Serve

Serve immediately with extra lemon juice, freshly grated Parmesan, and fresh parsley.

This one was delicious! I always get one of those boursin 3-packs when I go to costco. Will be making this again!!

  2. This is a very nice recipe and easy to make! I added some chickpeas to make it a full meal. I didn’t have Boursin, so used light cream cheese instead and added some dried oregano, basil and fresh parsley. Very much enjoyed!
