What ingredients do I need to make this loaded baked potato dip?

See the full list of ingredients with exact quantities on the recipe card below.
- Bacon: I used thick-cut bacon for this recipe, but you can use thinner bacon if you prefer—just keep in mind that the cooking time will vary depending on the thickness, so adjust accordingly until it’s crispy.
- Sour Cream
- Cheddar Cheese
- Cream Cheese: I recommend using full-fat cream cheese for the best texture and flavor, and make sure it’s softened before using—just let it sit on the counter at room temperature for about 30 minutes. If you're short on time, remove it from the packaging and microwave it in 10-second intervals until it's soft but not melted.
- Garlic Powder
- Onion Powder
- Kosher Salt
- Black Pepper
- Chives
Serving Suggestions
This loaded baked potato dip is perfect served with crispy ridged potato chips, tortilla chips, or fresh veggies like carrot sticks and celery. I used ridged sour cream & cheddar potato chips for extra loaded baked potato flavor, but any sturdy chip will work!
How do I make the dip?
See full list of instructions on the recipe card below.
Step 1: Cook the bacon
Preheat the oven to 415°F. Line a baking sheet with foil or parchment paper and place the bacon strips on it. Bake for 15-25 minutes, or until very crispy. Cooking time will vary depending on the thickness of the bacon. Let cool, then pat with a paper towel to remove excess grease. Chop into small bits, reserving some for topping.

Step 2: Prepare the dip
In a mixing bowl, combine the sour cream and softened cream cheese until smooth. Stir in the cheddar cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, kosher salt, and black pepper until well incorporated.

Fold in the chopped chives and bacon bits, saving some of each for garnish.

Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight to let the flavors meld. Serve at room temperature. Top the dip with the reserved bacon and chives. Serve with ridged chips in your favorite flavor, such as plain, sour cream & cheddar, or sour cream & onion.
