Meatballs are a classic comfort food that can be enjoyed in many ways, from being served on top of pasta to being used in sandwiches. While there are many variations of meatball recipes, this Easy Italian-Style Meatballs recipe stands out with its simplicity and use of both ground beef and ground pork. These can be easily customized and used in a large variety of dishes.

This Easy Meatball recipe would pair great with my San Marzano Tomato Sauce recipe or this Vodka Sauce recipe.

Recipe Details

You can modify this Easy Italian-Style Meatballs recipe in many ways. For example, you can change up the seasoning, use fresh bread rather than breadcrumbs, or include some red pepper flakes for a little heat. I made this recipe using leftover ingredients! I had ground beef and ground pork in my freezer, but you could certainly make these meatballs with only 1 type of ground meat or switch out some of the ground meat for ground turkey, ground chicken, or ground Italian sausage. You could also add some fresh minced garlic for extra flavor. Switching up the type of cheese would also change the flavor such as pecorino romano.

Recipe Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup Breadcrumbs I used Italian breadcrumbs – add extra seasoning if using plain breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1/4 tsp Onion Powder
  • 1/4 tsp Dried Oregano
  • 1/4 tsp Dried Basil
  • Salt & Pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan freshly grated
  • 1/2 lb Ground Beef can use all ground beef
  • 1/2 lb Ground Pork can use all ground beef or use Italian Sausage instead
  • Egg beaten
  • 1/8 cup Heavy Cream or whole milk

Easy Italian-Style Meatball Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, all seasonings, and parmesan cheese.
  3. In a large bowl, add the ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumb mixture, beaten egg, and cream. Use your hands until everything is well combined.
  4. Divide and shape into meatballs. I made 16 meatballs that were about 2 tbsp of mixture each. Place the meatballs onto a parchment lined baking sheet. Cook for about 20 minutes until browned.
  5. If you are finishing in red sauce, place the meatballs in the sauce and simmer for another 5-10 minutes. If not, bake for an additional 5 minutes until fully cooked through.
