Recipe Ingredients
See the recipe card below for the complete list of ingredients with exact quantities.
Avocado: Chipotle uses Hass avocados, which are creamy, flavorful, and easy to mash.
Jalapeño: I used 1/2 of a small pepper for this recipe and kept some of the seeds. If you don't enjoy a lot of spice, you can use even less jalapeño and remove all of the seeds. If you want more spice, leave the seeds.
How to make Chipotle Copycat Guacamole
See the recipe card below for the full list of instructions.
This recipe is essentially only one step: Mix the ingredients together in a bowl and enjoy immediately!
Recipe Tips
- Use ripe avocados. Press gently near the top. If the avocado has a slight give, it's ready - you don't want it to be too mushy. If it's too firm, let it ripen on the counter for a day or two. Avocados will also darken in color as they ripen.
- Mash to your texture preference. Chipotle's version is fairly smooth with a few small chunks, but you can leave it chunkier if you like!
- Always taste and adjust. Add more lime juice or kosher salt if needed because avocados can vary in size and richness.
- Storage: Guacamole is best enjoyed right away for peak flavor and color. If storing, transfer to an airtight container and squeeze a little extra lime or lemon juice over the surface to help prevent browning. You can also try covering with a piece of plastic wrap directly on the surface before covering to prevent browning. Cover and refrigerate for up to 2 days.
