This is an easy one pot recipe with minimal prep and cleanup. It’s extra cheesy and satisfying. Have dinner on the table in 40 minutes including prep and cooking!
I used Rao’s sauce when I made this recipe, but it would also be delicious with a homemade tomato sauce such as my Easy San Marzano Tomato Sauce!

One Pot Chicken Sausage Baked Orzo
Ingredients
- 1 tbsp Avocado Oil Olive Oil or Avocado Oil
- 12 oz Chicken Sausage sliced; I used Trader Joe's Roasted Garlic Chicken Sausage
- 4 cloves Garlic minced
- 1 cup Orzo dry
- 3/4 cup Chicken Broth
- 2 cups Pasta Sauce homemade or jarred
- 1/2 cup Mozzarella shredded
- 1/2 cup Parmesan Cheese shredded; additional to serve
- 1/4 cup Fresh Basil
Seasonings
- 1/2 tsp Onion Powder
- 1/2 tsp Dried Oregano
- 1/2 tsp Dried Basil
- 1/2 tsp Red Pepper Flakes
- Salt and Pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.
- Heat oil in a large oven-safe skillet set over medium heat. Add sliced chicken sausage and cook for 5 minutes. Flip a few times to cook both sides.
- Add minced garlic and orzo and cook for 2 minutes until lightly toasted and fragrant, stirring often.
- Add chicken broth, tomato sauce, and all seasonings. Stir all ingredients together and let it come to a boil.
- Once boiling, add a lid and lower temperature to a simmer for 10 minutes.
- Top with the mozzarella and parmesan cheese. Bake for about 10 minutes or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Serve immediately with fresh basil and parmesan cheese.
